INEC Responds to Umahi’s Sack as Ebonyi Gov

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has responded to the court deciding that fired Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State.

 INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye, said the discretionary umpire was at this point to get duplicates of the judgment from the court. Okoye revealed that INEC would make a move against Umahi in the wake of getting ensured archives from the court administering.

An Abuja Federal High Court had sacked Umahi and his delegate yesterday. Equity Inyang Ekwo decided that Umahi cant move the votes that got him into power under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, into the All Progressives Congress, APC.

The adjudicator had requested INEC to quit perceiving Umahi and his delegate, adding that PDP ought to send names to the discretionary umpire as their substitution.

 The court said Umahi had relinquished his governorship when he surrendered from the PDP to join the decision APC last year.

 “The Commission has not been presented with a duplicate of the said judgment. Okoye said, “The Commission planned to meet and make a choice when it is presented with a Certified True Copy of the judgment,”
